Step 1 of 2

Brunswick as we know it

Brunswick is two towns. The old one climbs the hill from the Potomac and the rail yard: brick and frame rowhouses and Victorians from the railroad years, narrow, three stories, with original floors, radiators, and stairs the team learns on the first visit. Parking is on the street and sometimes a block away; tell us what’s usual on yours. The new one is Brunswick Crossing on the east side off Route 17, built since the 2010s, with the open plans, the hardwood and the finished basements, and a lot of households where both people commute, some on the MARC train from the station downtown.

The old houses take longer per square foot because of the stairs and the detail; the new ones clean fast. A typical first clean of a three-bedroom home runs about three hours for a team of two; after that, about an hour or two per visit, depending on the home.

Brunswick is at the far corner of the county from us, so the office groups it with Jefferson, Knoxville and Point of Rocks on the same days and asks for some flexibility on the window.

Around Brunswick (ZIP 21716), we clean homes in Brunswick Crossing, Galyn Manor and downtown Brunswick. That includes homes near the C&O Canal Towpath, the Brunswick Heritage Museum, Railroad Square and Brunswick High School.

What we do in Brunswick

Recurring regular cleaning, weekly, every other week or monthly. Deep cleaning, which the old houses need on the first visit almost without exception. Move-in and move-out cleaning, downtown and in Brunswick Crossing. New construction cleaning in the sections still going up. House cleaning once. On-call cleaning, where you’re not on a schedule and you call us when you want a visit, some people every month and some twice a year. All of it with green cleaning products made in our office from salt, water and electricity, which means a healthier home for you.

We also clean for landlords and realtors and people who work from home in Brunswick.

Nearby towns we also clean: Knoxville, Burkittsville, Point of Rocks and Jefferson.

A little history about Brunswick

The B&O builds a rail yard, and Berlin becomes Brunswick

In 1890 the B&O moved its rail yard operations to Berlin, and the town was incorporated as Brunswick. The new name avoided confusion with Berlin in Worcester County, on the Eastern Shore. The yards kept growing, and by 1906 and 1907 they could hold 4,250 cars. Source: Maryland State Highway Administration, Maryland Manual

Laid out as the town of Berlin

Before it was Brunswick, it was Berlin. In 1787 Leonard Smith laid out a 96-lot town on the Potomac, on part of a 1753 land grant called “Hawkins Merry Peep-O-Day,” and named it Berlin. The town kept that name for about a century. Source: National Park Service (National Register)

Canal and railroad arrive

The canal and the railroad both reached Berlin in the 1830s. Work on the C&O Canal from Point of Rocks to Harpers Ferry began in June 1832, with Lock 30 at the end of First Street. In 1834 the B&O Railroad finished a single track through town, with a depot. Source: Maryland State Highway Administration
