Ijamsville as we know it

Ijamsville is a post office and a crossroads more than a town, and the ZIP is large houses on large lots: Holly Hills around the golf course, Windsor Knolls, the estates along Route 80 and Ijamsville Road, and the newer sections at the edge of Lake Linganore. These are big homes, four and five bedrooms, two-story family rooms, a finished basement, a lot of glass, often a dog or two. A first clean takes longer than three hours here more often than not, and we say so on the phone; after the first visit, a regular clean of a home this size runs toward the two-hour end too.

The high dusting is the job in these houses: the two-story foyer and family room, the ceiling fans, the tops of the tall cabinets, the chandelier. We bring the two-step ladder and the high duster, and we tell you what we can’t reach.

We clean homes all over Ijamsville (ZIP 21754), including near Oakdale High School, Oakdale Elementary and Windsor Knolls Middle.

What we do in Ijamsville

Recurring regular cleaning, weekly or every other week for most homes this size. Deep cleaning before the holidays and before a party. Move-in and move-out cleaning and listing cleans before photos. House cleaning once. On-call cleaning, where you’re not on a schedule and you call us when you want a visit, some people every month and some twice a year. All of it with green cleaning products made in our office from salt, water and electricity, with no residue on the stone counters or the hardwood.

We also clean for families with a new baby and newly built homes in Ijamsville.

Nearby towns we also clean: Urbana, New Market, Monrovia, Buckeystown and Mount Airy.

A little history about Ijamsville

Plummer Ijams brings the railroad to his mill

Ijamsville is named for the Ijams family. In 1831 Plummer Ijams Jr. gave the B&O a right-of-way across his land, and in exchange the railroad put a depot at his mill, Ijams’ Mill. The village grew up around the mill, the railroad and the nearby quarries. The mill burned in 1894 and was not rebuilt. Source: Maryland Historical Trust

Slate quarries

Slate quarries opened near Ijamsville around 1800 and helped support the village for more than a century. By 1913 they were producing shale instead of slate. Quarrying ended in 1937, and the railroad station closed the next year. Source: Maryland Historical Trust

By the hour for the first clean, quoted over the phone after a few questions about the home, the pets and what you want added. For recurring service we prefer to come see the home first.
