Tell Us About Your Home
Buckeystown as we know it
Buckeystown is the old village on Route 85 where the road bends toward the Monocacy: a line of big 19th-century houses along Buckeystown Pike, some of them stone, with porches, tall windows and the original floors, and the farms and lots around them. North of the village the road runs straight into Ballenger Creek and the city, so Buckeystown is on the way for us, between the Frederick subdivisions and Adamstown, and we clean in all three on the same days.
The village houses are a different job from the colonials up the road. They have more rooms, higher ceilings, deep windowsills and plaster that holds dust, and the first visit is almost always a deep clean. The floors get a flat microfiber mop that’s damp, not wet, so the old wood is safe, and we don’t use caustic chemicals, acids or alkalis on anything. A typical first clean of a three-bedroom home runs about three hours for a team of two; after that, about an hour or two per visit, depending on the home, and a big village house runs toward the two-hour end.
We clean homes all over Buckeystown (ZIP 21717), including near the Buckeystown Historic District, Buckeystown Pike, Buckeystown Park and Buckeystown United Methodist Church.

A little history about Buckeystown
Named for John Buckey’s tavern
Buckeystown is named for John Buckey, whose stone tavern from about 1780 still stands. The Buckey family arrived in 1775, and around 1795 George Buckey built a tannery across from the tavern. Source: National Park Service (National Register)
The Baker family’s canning and brick village
Between about 1870 and 1910 Buckeystown grew into a canning and brickmaking village, mostly through the Baker family. Baker interests started a cannery in the 1890s and gave land for the Thomas brickyard, whose kilns still stand. Most of the village’s Carpenter Gothic and Colonial Revival buildings date from those years, including houses built for cannery and brickyard workers. An early flour mill on the Monocacy
By 1766 Meredith Davis had a flour mill running east of the village on the Monocacy River. Mills powered by the river ground grain from the farms of nearby Carrollton Manor. Source: National Park Service (National Register)
