New Market and Lake Linganore as we know it

Two different places in one ZIP. New Market itself is the old Main Street, the antique shops, and the 18th and 19th century houses on either side of it, with plaster walls, wood floors that have been refinished more than once, and rooms that don’t square. Around it are the newer subdivisions off Route 75 and Route 144.

Lake Linganore is the planned community on the lake north of I-70: Eaglehead, Pinehurst, the newer sections toward Route 26 still being built, and a lot of houses on wooded lots with decks, walk-out basements and long driveways. The communities have their own roads and gates in places; tell us how the team gets in and where it parks. If the team arrives and can’t get in, that’s a lock-out, so we’d rather ask twice.

A typical first clean of a three-bedroom home runs about three hours for a team of two; after that, about an hour or two per visit, depending on the home.

Around New Market (ZIP 21774), we clean homes in Lake Linganore, Woodspring, The Meadows near New Market, New Market West, Summerfield and Westwinds. That includes homes near Main Street, New Market Community Park and Playground, New Market Nature Park and Linganore High.

What we do in New Market and Lake Linganore

Recurring regular cleaning, weekly, every other week or monthly. Deep cleaning, which the older New Market houses need more often than the new ones. Move-in and move-out cleaning and new construction cleaning in the sections still being built. House cleaning once, before a party or after one. On-call cleaning, where you’re not on a schedule and you call us when you want a visit, some people every month and some twice a year. All of it with green cleaning products made in our office from salt, water and electricity, which means a healthier home for you.

We also clean for families with a new baby and working parents in New Market.

Nearby towns we also clean: Monrovia, Ijamsville, Urbana and Mount Airy.

A little history about New Market

How New Market became an antiques town

New Market’s first antique shop opened in the 1930s, and the town became known as the Antiques Capital of Maryland. One architectural history places that first shop at 14 West Main Street in 1936, in the former home and office of physician Belt Brashear. The Maryland Association of Counties dates it to 1939. A planned town on the Baltimore-Frederick road

New Market was a planned town. Nicholas Hall laid it out in 1788 on the road between Baltimore and Frederick, and he recorded his town deed on April 3, 1793. Two months later, on June 1, 1793, William Plummer recorded “Plummer’s part of New Market,” laid out on the same plan. Source: National Park Service (National Register)

Drovers’ town on the National Pike

New Market grew as a stop on the road west from Baltimore and Frederick, later the National Pike. Drovers moving livestock stopped at its hotels and taverns, which kept pens behind them for the animals. A post office opened in 1798, inside the National Hotel.
