Step 1 of 2

Walkersville as we know it

Walkersville grew in the 1970s, 80s and 90s, and most of the houses show it: split-levels, colonials and ranchers on quarter-acre lots in Glade Valley, Discovery, Glade Town, Fountain Rock and the streets off Route 194 and Biggs Ford Road, with the older frame houses along Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue and the farms toward Woodsboro and the Monocacy. These are family houses, and a lot of the people in them have been there a long time; the ones who call us are usually working parents, or the kids of someone who’s getting older and wants to stay put.

A split-level cleans in a particular way: three or four short flights, and the team carries the vacuum up and down all of them. A typical first clean of a three-bedroom home runs about three hours for a team of two; after that, about an hour or two per visit, depending on the home.

Around Walkersville (ZIP 21793), we clean homes in Glade Towne, Glade Manor, Discovery, Fountain Rock Manor, Colony Village, Deerfield, Creekside Park and Old Town. That includes homes near Heritage Farm Park, Walkersville Community Park, the Walkers Village Shopping Center and the Fountain Rock Park and Nature Center.

What we do in Walkersville

Recurring regular cleaning, weekly, every other week or monthly. Deep cleaning before the holidays or after a long gap. Move-in and move-out cleaning. House cleaning once. Cleaning for seniors staying in their own homes, which comes up here more than in most towns. All of it with green cleaning products made in our office from salt, water and electricity, which means a healthier home for you.

We also clean for working parents and newly built homes in Walkersville.

A little history about Walkersville

Two crossroads villages become one town

Walkersville was once two crossroads villages, Georgetown and Walkersville, linked by what is now Main Street. They merged under the Walkersville name, largely because Walkersville had the post office. The town is named for John Walker, who lived from 1768 to 1841, and the Town of Walkersville incorporated in 1892. Source: Maryland Historical Trust, Maryland Manual

The railroad station that still runs trains

The Frederick and Pennsylvania Line Railroad opened in October 1872, mostly to haul freight such as coal, iron ore and farm goods. Walkersville’s wooden depot dates to about the same year and is one of only two passenger stations left on the 28-mile line. The volunteer Walkersville Southern Railroad operates it today. Lime kilns at Fountain Rock

From about 1872 to about 1955, kilns at what is now Fountain Rock Park burned limestone into lime for farm fertilizer and crushed stone for roads. The business took the name Fountain Rock Lime Company in 1907. Six of the original eight kilns still stand along a self-guided trail in the park. Source: Frederick County Parks and Recreation
